Best Staying Australia
Privacy Policy
How Best Staying Australia collects, uses and protects the personal information you share when you book or enquire through this site.
We collect only what a booking needs: your name, contact details, dates and the preferences you volunteer.
Your details are shared only with the venues and providers that deliver your stay — never sold, never profiled.
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time; requests are answered within 30 days.
This policy explains what personal information Best Staying Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 63 294 871 508) collects when you use beststayingaustralia.com, contact the desk, or book a stay or service through us. It applies to this website, our email and phone correspondence, and any booking made through our concierge desk.
01
Information we collect
We collect the details needed to make and manage a booking: your name, email address, phone number, travel dates, guest numbers, and any preferences or requests you volunteer — dietary notes, accessibility needs, occasion details.
Payment card details are processed by our payment provider and are never stored on this website. We receive a transaction reference only.
The site also collects technical data automatically: IP address, browser type, pages visited and approximate location, through the cookies described in our Cookie Policy.
02
How we use your information
Your information is used to respond to enquiries, make and manage reservations at The Darling and partner venues, arrange transfers and services you request, and meet legal obligations such as invoicing and record-keeping.
If you subscribe to the monthly journal, your email is used for that purpose and nothing else until you ask for more.
We do not use your details to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information to anyone.
03
Who we share it with
To fulfil a booking we share the necessary details with The Star Sydney (the hotel operator), transport providers, restaurants or other venues involved in your itinerary — only the information each party needs.
Service providers who run our website, email and payment systems process data on our behalf under contract.
We disclose information where Australian law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our guests and business.
04
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted where the law allows.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] or call +61 2 9777 9000. We respond within 30 days.
If you believe we have mishandled your information you may complain to us first, and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
05
Storage and security
Booking records are stored on encrypted systems located in Australia. Access is limited to the desk team members who need it for your booking.
Records are kept for seven years to meet taxation and licensing obligations, then securely destroyed. Correspondence is deleted sooner where no booking results.
No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires.
06
Changes and contact
We update this policy when our practices or the law change. Material changes are announced on this page with a new revision date.
Questions about privacy: write to Best Staying Australia Pty Ltd, Level 4, 80 Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont NSW 2009, or email [email protected].
For the GDPR-specific commitments that apply to European guests, see our Legal & GDPR page.
What this means for your booking
For a guest, this policy means the form asks for little, the desk asks for less, and nothing you share ends up in an advertising system.
Keep a copy
Every booking confirmation references this document. Print it from your browser, or ask the desk and we'll email a dated PDF of the version in force on your booking date.
In force from 5 January 2026
The date on this page is the date the document took effect. Bookings always follow the version in force at the time they were made.
Material changes are announced
When a clause changes in a way that affects guests, the change is flagged on this page for ninety days — not quietly swapped.
Older versions on request
Superseded versions are archived and sent on request within two business days — useful when a dispute turns on wording.
